Payton Jayne LaFaye Summons – Humanitarian Ambassador Award

Payton was born to Joseph Summons and Tiffany Hofstetter in North Richland Hills, Texas on May 2, 2009.  Her angel wings were granted to her on October 19, 2018.  Payton had a gentle smile, an infectious personality, and a heart bigger than Texas.  Payton brought unending joy and love to all who knew her.

Payton and her little sisters, Mia Saenz and Paisley Saenz, joined our pageant family in the spring of 2018 by competing in our Miss North Texas Pageant.  Though Payton didn’t win her division title, she was there showing her love and support for her sisters and to all the contestants that Saturday back in April.  Payton never wavered in spreading cheer and encouragement the entire day.  She made a lasting impression on all of us.

Payton was currently a 4th grade student at East Fort Worth Montessori Academy in Fort Worth.  “PJ” as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, had a passion for animals and loved taking care of the little rabbits and their habitat at the school.  Payton also would take under her wing any new student that came in the school.  She would make sure that they felt welcomed and safe in their new school environment.  Her teachers shared that after breakfast Payton would hurry to class in order to help the teachers with their daily duties.  Payton was also an avid softball player and played for the Sassy Sluggers and Lady Rangers softball teams in Grand Prairie for the last 3 years.  No matter how the game was going, Payton never lost her winning attitude and spirit.  She would also make sure that no one ever felt like they were “out.”

Although Payton lived a short nine years, she made and left a big impression in all the lives touched by her.   As her pastor said during her funeral “It’s not the years you live but the way you lived that matters!”

For as much as Payton impacted all of us, we at TCP North Texas are happy to announce the inaugural Payton Summons Humanitarian Ambassador Award at our December 8th Holiday Pageant.  This is a fundraising humanitarian award and the fundraiser will benefit the East Fort Worth Montessori Academy.  The school is planting a tree in honor of Payton this spring. The goal is that our fundraiser will help the school go bigger by creating a peaceful outdoor garden memorial to include a sitting area.  In the coming years this fundraiser will continue to support East Fort Worth Montessori Academy.

2018 Holiday Pageant contestants are eligible to participate in this award. This is not an Optional that you have to pay to participate. This is on a voluntary basis and the person who brings in the highest contribution wins the award.  This award comes with a beautiful purple stone crown, a lovely plaque with trophy and a sash.  The Humanitarian Ambassador will reign with us for the year and make personal appearances to benefit the East Fort Worth Montessori Academy.  All proceeds raised will be presented to the school the day of the pageant.  Deadline to donate is Thursday, December 6, 2018.

From all of us at TCP North Texas and on behalf of the Summons and Hofstetter families, thank you for your support.
